Common use
Zocitab is primarily indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. It may also be prescribed off-label for other conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and social anxiety disorder, based on clinical judgment and patient-specific factors.
Dosage and direction
The recommended starting dose for Zocitab is 50 mg administered orally once daily, with or without food. Dosage may be adjusted based on therapeutic response and tolerability, in increments of 50 mg at intervals of no less than one week. The maximum recommended dose is 200 mg per day. It may take several weeks for full therapeutic effects to become apparent. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet; swallow whole with water.
Precautions
- Monitor for emergence of anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, impulsivity, and suicidality, especially during initial treatment and dose adjustments.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures.
- Screen patients for bipolar disorder prior to initiation; Zocitab is not approved for treating bipolar depression.

Contraindications

Missed dose

Storage
